Enteral nutrition is designed for :

patients who cannot eat normally (ENT patients),
patients who no longer want to eat.

Requirement : the gastro-intestinal tract must be functional.

Enteral nutrition is very often used in patients suffering from ENT and GI tract cancers, intestinal malabsorption, malnutrition or delayed growth, inflammatory bowel disease, anorexia etc. It is also used post-operatively in patients who have undergone bowel surgery.
